Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for the development and future updates of Pokémon Sleep, previously managed by Select Button. This transition was announced via the Japanese in-app notification.
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
Established in March 2024, Pokémon Works, a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd., will now oversee Pokémon Sleep's ongoing development and operations. The official announcement, initially appearing in the Japanese app, stated a gradual transition of development responsibilities from Select Button to Pokémon Works. The impact on the global version of the app remains unconfirmed.
Pokémon Works, based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, shares proximity with ILCA, the developer of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME. Their representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, highlighted their past contributions to Pokémon HOME and expressed a vision to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real," though how this will manifest in Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen. While their direct Pokémon involvement has been limited, this transition suggests a significant expansion of their role within the Pokémon franchise.
