Empoleon Joins Pokémon UNITE, More Water-Types Coming

Pokémon UNITE is expanding its roster again, and this September, Empoleon will officially join the battle. It's not arriving alone—several other new Pokémon are swimming in its wake! Experience how water-type Pokémon and a legendary boss are set to redefine the current meta.

When does Empoleon join Pokémon UNITE?

The All-Rounder arrives on September 19. The Pokémon was first revealed during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, where its appearance against a purple backdrop—the in-game color code for All-Rounders—gave players a clear clue about its role.

Empoleon is classified in the Emperor category and brings abilities such as Torrent. Its stats reflect the balanced spread seen in Scarlet and Violet, with Special Attack and Special Defense slightly outpacing its other attributes. Watch the official announcement video below.

Empoleon's arrival is thrilling, but the developers shared even bigger news

Dhelmise and Vaporeon are also confirmed for the game, though their exact release dates remain under wraps. While full details about their movesets are still to come, they are poised to introduce innovative tactics to the arena.

Additionally, a major update is scheduled to launch before Empoleon joins Pokémon UNITE. Beginning September 4, Groudon will appear as a new neutral boss in Theia Sky Ruins.

Defeating Groudon grants a significant attack boost and accelerates goal-scoring speed. If an opponent carrying Groudon’s buff is defeated, that powerful effect instantly transfers to you.

Meanwhile, don't forget that Pokémon UNITE’s 4th anniversary celebration is still underway. Latias is now a playable Pokémon, and you can earn its Unite license by completing special anniversary missions. This event concludes on September 4, so be sure to download the game from the Google Play Store before it ends.
