Please note that not all games will be available on launch day, June 5. While some titles release alongside the console, others are delayed. Donkey Kong Bananza arrives later on July 17, and major releases like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A remain unavailable for preorder.
For those looking to accessorize their new system, the new Joy-Con 2, Switch 2 Pro controllers, cameras, and more are also available to order today.
How Much to Upgrade Switch Games to Switch 2 Edition?
Nintendo has confirmed the cost of upgrading two Switch games—Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree—to the Switch 2 edition. Prices vary significantly. While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom cost $9.99 each, Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are priced higher, with UK prices listed at £16.99 / €19.99.
Switch 2 Game-Key Cards?
Almost all third-party physical Switch 2 games in Japan are Game-Key Cards, and it seems the same trend applies in the West. In the US, titles like Sonic X Shadow Generations and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut are listed as Game-Key Cards. Only a few exceptions exist, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Aiba Edition.
Switch 2 Game Previews
IGN recently previewed two of the most anticipated Switch 2 games—Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World. Both are available for preorder now. Here’s what Brian Altano and Logan Plant had to say:
Donkey Kong Bananza: “Bananza is shaping up to be one of the most visually stunning Nintendo games ever. The environments are breathtaking, and DK’s animations are incredibly expressive.”
Mario Kart World: “Mario Kart World feels like the definitive Switch 2 launch game. Its open-world format and Knockout Tour mode are game-changing additions.”
