Schizophrenic Fan Inspired by Arkham Knight, Receives Kevin Conroy

In 2020, a fan of Batman: Arkham Knight who was battling schizophrenia reached out to Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman, through the Cameo service. He was expecting a typical 30-second message but was instead gifted with over six minutes of heartfelt encouragement. Moved by the fan's personal story, Conroy chose to go beyond a standard response, creating a video that became a lifeline for the fan during some of his darkest moments.

The story surfaced on Reddit, where the fan shared how the game's ending, in which Batman confronts and overcomes his fears, paranoia, and hallucinations, resonated deeply with his own struggles with schizophrenia. Inspired by the game, he sent a message to Conroy, expressing his gratitude and detailing how the Dark Knight's journey mirrored his own fight against his illness.

Instead of the anticipated brief Cameo, the fan received an extended message filled with empathy and support. The fan later shared, "This video has saved me from suicide countless times. Hearing Batman say he believed in me was incredibly powerful... But as time went on, it became just as important that it was Kevin himself who believed in me."

Initially hesitant to share the video publicly, the fan decided to do so after learning that Conroy had a brother who suffered from schizophrenia. He hoped that the video could offer solace and inspiration to others facing similar challenges, stating, "If someone in his family asks me to delete this video, I will of course do so. But it has inspired me in my toughest moments, and maybe it will inspire someone else. Hang in there. Because Batman believes in you."

Tragically, Kevin Conroy passed away on November 10, 2022, at the age of 66. Yet, his legacy and the impact of his words continue to resonate and inspire millions worldwide.
