Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week

Author: Matthew Feb 26,2025

Sony's February PlayStation State of Play is rumored to arrive next week, according to leaker NateTheHate, who correctly predicted the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date. Speculation abounds regarding the event's contents, focusing primarily on upcoming 2025 releases.

Potential first-party highlights include Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, offering a possible gameplay reveal and release date confirmation. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, might also feature if its playtesting plans remain on track. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are other possibilities, though less likely for major reveals at this stage. A new trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a more probable inclusion.

Notably absent will be the recently canceled live-service titles from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (reportedly a God of War live-service game). However, Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon project reportedly survived the cuts and could see its first public appearance.

Poll: Which PlayStation Game Are You Most Looking Forward to Seeing at Sony's Next State of Play?

The poll presents several options for anticipated games: Ghost of Yotei, Marathon, Death Stranding 2, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Marvel's Wolverine, Fairgames, the Horizon multiplayer live-service project, Physint, and Phantom Blade Zero.

Regarding third-party announcements, Kojima Productions' Physint might be showcased, though it seems premature. Phantom Blade Zero, a hack-and-slash action RPG from S-Game, is a more realistic possibility.

Microsoft's presence is also anticipated. A release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 is a strong contender, and a surprise announcement of Halo on PlayStation remains a possibility, albeit less likely.

Looking back at last year's State of Play, which featured titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, an Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine's Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2, provides a framework for predicting this year's announcements. However, the actual lineup remains a matter of speculation until the event itself.
