Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, stating that numerous aspects of the film are still "being figured out."
This news isn't entirely surprising, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about production commencing. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third installment. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles shifted to the reality of the main protagonist, resulting in a drastically different outcome. Without the Spider-Man mantle, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Miles G. Morales became a villain in a New York City overrun by supervillains.
The narrative conflict between this villainous Miles and the main Spider-Man will likely form the core of Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, or potentially as late as 2028 if the previous film's release schedule is followed.
