Squid Game: Unleashed is getting a major content update to coincide with the release of season two! Expect new characters, a new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, there are exclusive rewards up for grabs by watching the new episodes.

Netflix's surprising decision to offer Squid Game: Unleashed for free to everyone, even non-subscribers, before the holidays, was a bold move. This new content drop, complete with rewards for watching the show, aims to attract new players and engage existing ones.

What's in store for players? The update, launching January 3rd, introduces a map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game season two. New playable characters include Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos.

Geum-Ja and Thanos will have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. Viewers of season two can earn in-game Cash and Wild Tokens; watching seven episodes unlocks the Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!

Here's the January content schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:

  • January 3rd: New Mingle map and Geum-Ja character. The Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until January 9th) challenges players to complete Mingle mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
  • January 9th: Thanos arrives with his own recruitment event, the Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Eliminate players with knives to unlock him.
  • January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the roster as the final new character in this wave.

Squid Game: Unleashed could be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming strategy. The free-to-play model, coupled with the incentive to watch the show for in-game rewards, cleverly connects the game and the series, potentially boosting both.
