It appears that the title for the sequel to *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* may have been revealed prematurely through an NBCUniversal press release. The document, which was meant to highlight upcoming content for their Upfront Showcase, inadvertently mentioned *Super Mario World* as one of the future films set to be released on Peacock, alongside other titles from Universal Pictures and Illumination.

The internet quickly caught wind of this, and soon after, Universal revised the press release to completely remove any reference to Mario. This swift action was captured and shared on social media, with users like Wario64 posting about the change:

The original press release listed *Super Mario World* alongside *Shrek* and *Minions*, which are known to be *Shrek 5* and *Minions 3*, respectively. Despite this, *Super Mario World* is a more specific title than a generic *Super Mario* or *Super Mario Bros.*, which lends some credibility to the speculation that it could indeed be the name of the next Mario movie. Given the context and the history of the Mario franchise, *Super Mario World* as a title would resonate well with fans.
