DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, featuring Marvel veteran Dan Slott. Slott, renowned for his work on titles like The Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity.
This new series pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo.
Slott states, "He's the greatest superhero, and I've waited my whole life to tell his stories...Rafael Albuquerque and I will take him—and you—to places you’ll want to revisit monthly." The series promises fresh ideas for Superman, Lois Lane, supporting characters, classic villains, and new adversaries.
Superman Unlimited introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower arms Intergang with Kryptonite-based weapons, forcing Superman to develop new technology and strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia giant after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.
DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman, promising "big, fun, high-flying adventures," alongside a significant storyline involving a massive Kryptonite deposit. He describes a world where even petty criminals wield Kryptonite weapons, presenting an unprecedented threat.
Kaminski further notes the contrast with Justice League Unlimited, highlighting Superman Unlimited's focus on Kryptonite-empowered super-villains. He emphasizes the innovative storyline and Albuquerque's stunning artwork, promising a thrilling 2025 for Superman fans.
A 10-page prelude story launches in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 on May 3, 2025, followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film on July 11.
