Top 25 PC Games You Must Play Now

As we progress into 2025, it's time to revisit and refresh IGN's list of the 25 Best Modern PC Games. Let's clarify what we mean by "best." This list does not aim to be an "objective" ranking that will universally align with every gamer's preferences. Such a list is impossible to create; after all, one player's cherished grand strategy game might be another's tedious ordeal. Even among fans of the same genre, personal lists rarely align perfectly.

Instead, this compilation reflects the collective recommendations of IGN's PC gaming enthusiasts, ranked through our Face-Off tool, allowing everyone to have their say. Our goal is to spotlight the games we adore and inspire others to explore them if they haven't already.

With only 25 slots available, many exceptional recent PC games couldn't make the cut. This doesn't diminish their quality; it simply reflects the diverse tastes and preferences within our voting group. Everyone has their favorites, and not all could garner enough support to be included, a natural outcome given the vast array of games and varied perspectives.

The Best PC Games

26 ImagesOur criteria for this list focus on "modern" PC games, specifically those released or significantly updated within the last 10 years, starting from 2013. Classics like Doom, Half-Life 2, Portal, Skyrim, StarCraft 2, Mass Effect 2, Minecraft, BioShock, KOTOR, Fallout: New Vegas, and Batman: Arkham City have transcended to all-time status.
