Virtua Fighter's First Steam Appearance

For the first time ever, SEGA brings the acclaimed Virtua Fighter series to Steam with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. This ultimate remaster of the 18-year-old Virtua Fighter 5 franchise marks the fifth major iteration of the classic game. While the precise release date remains under wraps, SEGA promises a winter launch.

Despite its numerous previous releases, SEGA positions Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O as the definitive remaster. Key features include rollback netcode for smooth online battles, stunning 4K graphics, updated high-resolution textures, and a boosted 60fps frame rate for incredibly fluid gameplay.

Returning players will find familiar favorites like Rank Match, Arcade, Training, and Versus modes. Exciting additions include custom online tournaments and leagues (supporting up to 16 players) and a Spectator Mode for observing skilled players and learning new techniques.

The YouTube trailer has generated overwhelmingly positive feedback, even for a fifth iteration. Many fans are thrilled with the PC release, although some continue to express their anticipation for Virtua Fighter 6.

Initially Mistaken for Virtua Fighter 6

Earlier this month, an interview with VGC sparked speculation about a Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. SEGA's global head of transmedia, Justin Scarpone, mentioned several legacy titles in development, including another Virtua Fighter project. However, the November 22nd Steam listing for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O clarified the situation – a highly polished remaster, not a completely new entry.

A Classic Fighting Game Returns

Initially launched on SEGA Lindbergh arcades in July 2006, and later ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007, Virtua Fighter 5 introduced the Fifth World Fighting Tournament. The original game featured 17 fighters; Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O boasts 19 playable characters.
