World of Warcraft's annual Feast of Winter Veil, a beloved in-game Christmas equivalent, returns with fresh rewards and activities! This year's event boasts a rich history, explored in a new lore video produced in collaboration with PlatinumWoW.

The video delves into the holiday's origins, weaving together Dwarven myths of Greatfather Winter – a Titan-forged giant who brings the snow – and Tauren traditions of spiritual renewal and gratitude to the Earthmother. The video also humorously highlights the commercialization of Winter Veil by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures, mirroring real-world Christmas traditions.

Metzen the Reindeer's Misadventures

No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Warcraft creative director Chris Metzen. This unfortunate reindeer has a history of being kidnapped—by pirates, Dark Iron dwarves, and even the Grinch! The video concludes with a fittingly funny thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's iconic tone (a nod to Metzen's voice acting).
