Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have just unlocked a fantastic new perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their Xbox consoles without any need for downloading. This exciting update was shared through a recent Xbox Wire news post, revealing that members can now stream games from the Game Pass catalog, as well as certain games they own, on their Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming.
Previously, cloud streaming was limited to smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this marks the first time the feature has been extended to Xbox consoles. This advancement allows gamers to bypass the often time-consuming download process and conserve valuable hard drive space.
To access this feature, Xbox users can follow these straightforward steps:
- To start streaming from an Xbox console, navigate to My Games & Apps > Full Library > Owned Games.
- Games that support cloud streaming will be marked with a cloud badge on their game page. You can use filters to quickly locate these games by selecting Filter > Ready to Play > Cloud Gaming.
- To begin playing, select the desired game and choose Play with Cloud Gaming. You can also start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud-playable games.
Additionally, users can stream any game installed on their Xbox consoles to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app but remains available on phones via the browser link. Xbox is currently working to expand this feature to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.
In another exciting development, Xbox announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play.
