Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces challenging bosses, prompting players to master the game's mechanics as they progress. While not excessively long, the game offers a satisfying number of boss encounters.

Initially, players might need some guidance, but facing Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.

How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)

After defeating Guilen, The Fire Eater, players continue through the Zone of Lava to confront Gyalva. The key to victory is strategic positioning at either end of the bridge.

Movement is severely restricted during this fight, as the bridge platforms are constantly disrupted by Gyalva's attacks. The strategy involves repeatedly jumping to attack Gyalva and utilizing wind magic to maximize damage output within short bursts.

The Ys franchise consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's best, and overcoming challenging bosses like Gyalva provides a rewarding sense of accomplishment.

Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

While a remake of Ys 3, Gyalva is a new addition to the story, not present in the original. This boss possesses a diverse arsenal. Though the fight itself is relatively straightforward, Gyalva can inflict significant damage quickly. The boss will fly across the bridge, often launching sections of it into the air with fiery attacks.

Consider upgrading Adol's equipment and aiming for level 21 before engaging Gyalva, if you're struggling. This shouldn't require excessive grinding if you've been defeating smaller enemies along the way.

Spinning Attacks

Gyalva employs two spinning attacks. The first targets a section of the bridge, sending affected platforms airborne. The second involves a straight line traversal across the entire bridge, similarly flipping platforms. Both attacks can severely damage under-leveled players.

To avoid the first attack, quickly move to either side of the affected area. For the second, the only safe position is on either ledge at the bridge's end. Staying close to one side ensures a safe retreat to the edge.

Avoid the very edge of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically move along the bridge to attack Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.

Fire Blast

Gyalva launches a fireball onto the bridge, tossing platforms into the air. This attack inflicts damage but also provides an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, with fireballs arcing between them. These bursts inflict damage. While unpredictable, the area is safe to traverse once a burst concludes.
