A New Guinness World Record: 20,000 Pokémon TCG Cards Opened in 24 Hours!

The Pokémon Company International achieved a remarkable feat, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest Pokémon TCG card unboxing livestream. Over a 24-hour marathon, popular online personalities opened an astounding 20,000+ cards!

A Record-Breaking Livestream

On November 26th, 2024, a spectacular livestream event celebrated the launch of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks expansion. The event, streamed on the official Pokémon Twitch channel, featured prominent figures like Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. These influencers opened thousands of booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in a staggering collection of over 20,000 cards.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed immense pride in the accomplishment, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."

The collected cards will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo’s in the UK. Furthermore, the Pokémon Company announced additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the following two weeks.

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks

Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. The expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex with its formidable Metal Defender ability.

Notable additions include iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. The expansion also features captivating illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, showcasing tranquil ocean scenes and serene breezes, featuring Pokémon like Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting options for TCG players.

The expansion is also available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game rewards for collecting and battling with these new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
