Assassin’s Creed Shadows Builds Anticipation
One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata Joins Assassin’s Creed Shadows as Gennojo

Mackenyu, renowned Japanese actor and star of Netflix's One Piece adaptation, joins the cast of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft's highly anticipated addition to the Assassin's Creed RPG series.
Famous for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in One Piece, Mackenyu will voice Gennojo in both Japanese and English. Gennojo, a character players will encounter in the Feudal Japan setting of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is described by Ubisoft as a key figure who "helps the protagonist track and eliminate a crucial target."
Ubisoft further describes Gennojo as "a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He’s a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, always walking the line with a mix of wit, deceit, and swagger. Motivated by a deep desire to bring down a corrupt system, Gennojo is willing to risk everything, even his own life, to achieve his goal. Despite his rough exterior, he holds a strong sense of justice, especially when it comes to helping the poor and elderly."While the precise point in the game where players will meet Gennojo remains undisclosed, his importance to the game's missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo is a member of a group known as the "Shinobi League," and players can "basically recruit" Gennojo as a companion throughout their journey.
