*Avowed* builds upon the rich, fantastical universe of Eora introduced in the *Pillars of Eternity* series of isometric RPGs. Although the game features a variety of Kith races, your choices in the character creator are somewhat limited. Here's a comprehensive look at all the playable races in *Avowed*.
Humans (Known In-Universe as Folk)
Humans, referred to as Folk within *Avowed*, are the most prevalent race both in the game and within the character creator. As part of the broader Kith category, which includes various sentient and civilized species, humans are central to the game's narrative and player experience.
The character customization for humans in *Avowed* is designed to cater to a wide audience. Players have access to numerous presets and detailed customization tools. These include a variety of facial presets, a skin tone slider, and diverse hair textures, ensuring players can create a character that closely represents them.
Elves
Elves are another selectable race in *Avowed*. Visually, elves are very similar to humans, distinguished mainly by their unique facial structures and iconic long, pointed ears.
Godlikes
A third race option available in *Avowed* is the Godlikes. Although all Envoys in the game's story are Godlike, players have the choice to display or hide these distinctive features. Godlikes come with unique hair and facial features, ranging from subtle to surreal. At the launch of *Avowed*, players can choose from 14 different Godlike facial features and four Godlike hair options, which are available across all character races and body types.
What Gender Options are Available in the Avowed Character Creator? Answered
In *Avowed*, players can select from four Body Types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Additionally, there are two voice options for each gender. Players can also choose their character's identifier, which determines the pronouns used for them, with options including he, she, and they.
Several Races Present in Avowed Are Not Playable
Unfortunately, not all Kith races present in the game are available for player customization. While you'll encounter Dwarves, semiaquatic Aumaua, and the half-sized, hairy Orlans among the NPCs in the Living Lands, these races are not options in the character creator. However, there's always the potential for Obsidian Entertainment to expand the character creation options with future updates or DLC for *Avowed*.
