The Boys Star Jack Quaid Says He’d Love to Be in a Bioshock Movie, as Everyone Else Says He Looks a Lot Like Max Payne in New Film Novocaine

Jack Quaid, star of The Boys, expressed his strong desire to participate in a BioShock film adaptation, citing the game as one of his all-time favorites. During a Reddit AMA promoting his new movie, Novocaine, Quaid highlighted the rich lore of BioShock, suggesting it’s ripe for exploration in a film or television series. He stated, "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock – one of my favorite games of all time. I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."

However, the BioShock movie's production status remains uncertain. Last July, producer Roy Lee revealed that following leadership changes at Netflix, the project underwent a "reconfiguration," resulting in a smaller, more personal film due to budget constraints. Despite these changes, Francis Lawrence, director of The Hunger Games, remains attached to the project. Lee explained, “The new regime has lowered the budgets…So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project.” Plot details remain undisclosed, leaving the pre-reconfiguration vision unclear.

Quaid's BioShock comments coincide with observations about his striking resemblance to Max Payne, whose character model was based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. Indeed, scenes from Novocaine have sparked online comparisons. However, Quaid admitted unfamiliarity with the Max Payne franchise, stating his intention to play it soon.

Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware games, specifically mentioning his enjoyment of Bloodborne, Sekiro, and currently, Elden Ring, often using Reddit for gameplay assistance. He stated, “I'm a huge video game nerd…And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library…Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are – it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed.”
