Fans of the strategic tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, based on the beloved anime and manga franchise Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, will have to bid farewell to its global mobile version. While the game's journey comes to an end for international players, its saga continues in Japan. The manga was crafted by Sunrise, and the game was developed by f4samurai and DMM Games, with Komoe as its publisher. Launched globally in September 2023, the game unfortunately won't see its first anniversary.
When Is It Shutting Down?
Code Geass: Lost Stories will officially shut down on August 29th, 2024. Players have until this date to enjoy the game, as access to accounts will be terminated afterwards. The game's global social media accounts will also cease operations on the same day. As of now, downloads and in-game purchases are no longer available. Although the global version is ending, the game remains popular among Japanese players, who continue to enjoy its unique blend of gameplay.
Why Is Code Geass: Lost Stories Shutting Down?
Despite integrating RPG, action, and tower defense elements, and being tied to a renowned anime, Code Geass: Lost Stories is closing its doors. While the developers have not explicitly stated the reasons, it's clear that the game faced challenges. Low download numbers and a lack of positive reviews globally have likely contributed to this decision. Licensed anime gacha games often struggle to retain a player base outside of Japan, where spending habits differ. Hence, the shutdown of Code Geass: Lost Stories might not come as a shock to many.
If you're in Japan and curious about the game, you can still download it from the Google Play Store.
