The Last of Us series originally debuted on the PS3 in 2013 and has since become a staple in the PlayStation library. Despite its popularity, the series has faced criticism for its multiple re-releases and remasters. The Last of Us was remastered for PS4 in 2014 and remade for PS5 in 2022, while The Last of Us Part 2, which continued Ellie's story, was released in 2020 and remastered in early 2024. Both titles have also been ported to PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 arriving in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just last week.

The Last of Us Complete consolidates all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic content into one package. While some may question the need for another re-release, its timing aligns with the premiere of HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 this Sunday, following the recent greenlighting of Season 3.
