Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a formidable new adversary set to replace the Marauder in the upcoming *DOOM: The Dark Ages*. Unlike the Marauder, Agadon isn't merely an upgrade but a completely distinct enemy. This boss melds traits from various iconic bosses, showcasing the ability to dodge, evade, and even deflect projectiles launched by the Doom Slayer. With a repertoire of combo attacks, players will need to master the use of a sawtooth shield, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed game *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*, which significantly influenced the developers. Facing Agadon will serve as the ultimate challenge, testing every skill players have honed throughout the game, akin to a final exam.
The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss similar to the Marauder, confident that players are prepared for an intensified challenge. Previously, the issue with the Marauder wasn't its difficulty but rather how it was introduced and explained to players. Many mechanics crucial for defeating the Marauder were not adequately integrated into the campaign, leading to player frustration due to the sudden shift in gameplay dynamics. This time, the developers aim to introduce mechanics more smoothly and prepare players better, addressing past grievances.
