Shogun Showdown is a roguelike deckbuilding combat game newly added to the Crunchyroll Game Vault. It first released in September 2024 for PC and consoles.
Developed by Roboatino and published by Goblinz Studio, with Gamera Games handling other platforms, the game quickly became a hit for its innovative approach to turn-based battles.
What Is the Gameplay Like in Crunchyroll: Shogun Showdown?
Shogun Showdown requires careful planning before every action. The battle takes place on a single-lane board, where every foe aims to eliminate you.
You step into the role of a samurai on a quest to defeat a corrupted shogun who has plunged the world into chaos and unleashed a shadowy scourge upon the land.
Combat unfolds along a one-dimensional path, typically 4 to 12 spaces in length. You'll manage queued moves, set up attacks, shift your position, and avoid being trapped by relentless ashigaru soldiers.
Every action in Crunchyroll: Shogun Showdown counts, as you can only queue three moves at a time. Each run is procedurally generated, presenting fresh obstacles, enemy placements, and map layouts.
The game features pixel art with a distinct feudal Japanese aesthetic. If you're curious to see it in action, check out the official trailer below!
