Corinne Busche, the director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is reportedly set to leave EA-owned BioWare in the coming weeks, according to Eurogamer. Busche joined the project in February 2022 and led it to its launch in October of the previous year. IGN has reached out to EA for further comment on this matter.

Since its release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has faced scrutiny regarding its success. However, Eurogamer notes that Busche's departure is not linked to the game's commercial performance. EA has not yet disclosed whether the game's sales and revenue met expectations, with the company set to report its Q3 2025 financial results on February 4.

Busche joined BioWare in 2019 after working at Maxis on various The Sims projects. Her role was crucial in steering Dragon Age: The Veilguard to completion, especially during the game's final development years. IGN’s article, ‘How BioWare Finally Got Dragon Age to the Finish Line After a Tumultuous Decade,’ highlighted the game's extensive development journey, which included a significant shift from a multiplayer concept to a single-player RPG.

BioWare has confirmed that it has no plans for Dragon Age: The Veilguard DLC and is now focusing on Mass Effect 5, which has been teased but not fully revealed yet.

In August 2023, BioWare laid off approximately 50 employees, including long-time veterans like narrative designer Mary Kirby, who had been with the company since the inception of Dragon Age. This occurred around the same time as the release of Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3.

These layoffs were part of a broader restructuring at EA, which separated its operations into sports and other categories. Rumors at the time suggested BioWare might be acquired, and Star Wars: The Old Republic was transitioned to a third-party developer to allow BioWare to concentrate on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

The reveal of Dragon Age: The Veilguard in 2024 was met with mixed reactions. The initial trailer received negative feedback, prompting BioWare to quickly release an early gameplay tease. The game's name change from Dreadwolf to The Veilguard also faced criticism, though subsequent impressions were generally positive.

With Busche's departure and the focus shifting to Mass Effect 5, Dragon Age fans are left wondering if BioWare will have the opportunity to develop another sequel in the Dragon Age series.
