Today, May 15, marks an exciting day for Nintendo fans as the company opens its doors to its second official store in the United States, located in San Francisco's Union Square at 331 Powell Street. Following the success of the New York store, which underwent a transformation from Nintendo World Store to Nintendo NY and reopened in 2016, the San Francisco location is set to bring the magic of Nintendo to the West Coast.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the new San Francisco store and explore what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, we had the privilege of sitting down with Nintendo of America's President, Doug Bowser, to discuss the strategic decision behind opening their first West Coast store at this time.
During our conversation, we couldn't resist delving into the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. We asked President Bowser about the Switch 2's availability in the U.S. at launch and beyond, as well as the controversial Game-Key Cards and other related topics.
