In NieR: Automata, securing some upgrade materials can be quite the challenge. While many can be obtained by defeating enemies, others are scattered across the overworld, relying heavily on random drops. This element of RNG adds a layer of unpredictability to the farming process.

Filler Metal is one such crucial upgrade material that you'll need to track down in the overworld if you want to acquire it early in your gameplay journey. Be ready for a bit of a trek. Later in the game, you have the option to purchase Filler Metal, though it comes at a hefty price. If your wallet is well-stocked, this could be the more straightforward route.

Where To Find Filler Metal In NieR: Automata

Finding Filler Metal involves exploring the depths of the Factory, where it sporadically appears at item spawn locations. The precise spot changes with each visit, and unfortunately, Filler Metal has one of the lowest spawn rates among the items you'll encounter. To streamline your search, revisit the Factory as part of the main storyline to unlock the Factory: Hanger access point. This serves as an excellent starting point for your farming expeditions, as it's located deep within the Factory.

Depending on your progress in the story, you might need to unlock the Factory: Hanger access point again. While speed boosts can help you navigate the Factory more efficiently, farming Filler Metal remains largely a game of chance. Your best approach is to thoroughly comb through the Factory, collecting all naturally spawned items you come across. However, for a more reliable source, consider purchasing it.

Where To Buy Filler Metal In NieR: Automata

The sole vendor for Filler Metal is the Shopkeeper Machine located in the Amusement Park. Access to this item becomes available only after you've achieved one of the final endings, which means completing all three playthroughs of the game. Once you've beaten the game, you can use Chapter Select to revisit the Shopkeeper, where Filler Metal will be available for 11,250 G each.

Although the price might seem steep, buying Filler Metal is a far more reliable method than repeatedly scouring the Factory. This is especially important for upgrading your Pod, as these upgrades are essential for tackling the game's tougher enemies as you near the maximum level.
