The Show is Not Cancelled

God of War TV Series' Creative Team Undergoes OverhaulRecent reports confirm that showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have exited the God of War TV series adaptation. Key figures remaining on board as executive producers include Cory Barlog (Santa Monica Studio Creative Director), Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan (PlayStation Productions), Roy Lee (Vertigo), and Yumi Yang (Santa Monica Studio). Amazon and Sony will now search for a new showrunner, producers, and writers to redefine the series' direction. Crucially, the project remains uncancelled.

Despite Setbacks, the Adaptation Continues

God of War TV Series' Creative Team Undergoes OverhaulInitially announced on a PlayStation podcast in 2022, following the success of the 2018 God of War reboot, the Amazon and Sony collaboration reflects Sony's broader strategy to adapt its popular video game franchises for film and television. This initiative led to the formation of PlayStation Productions in 2019. The announcement also included a Netflix adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn, among others.

Successful adaptations already released include Naughty Dog's Uncharted (2022), the critically acclaimed The Last of Us (2023, with a second season slated for 2025), the Gran Turismo film (2023), and the Twisted Metal TV series (2024). Further projects in development include Gravity Rush, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, and the Until Dawn film (scheduled for release on April 25, 2025).
