Godzilla Joins Fortnite This Week

Summary

  • Fortnite is adding Godzilla to the game as part of Version 33.20, scheduled to launch on January 14.
  • The monster may appear as an NPC boss alongside King Kong.
  • Two Godzilla skins will be unlocked for Battle Pass owners on January 17.

Fortnite has a history of pitting players against colossal adversaries, and now, the legendary Godzilla is set to unleash chaos across the Island later this week. Epic's renowned multiplayer online battle royale has hosted a plethora of crossovers, allowing fans to unlock unique Fortnite character skins inspired by icons such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wonder Woman, and even the beloved Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.

In Chapter 6 Season 1, Fortnite is expanding its roster of guest characters by introducing the iconic Japanese cinematic monster Godzilla. A playable skin based on his enhanced Evolved form from last year's "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" will be available starting January 17. The anticipation surrounding Godzilla's arrival in Fortnite has ignited conversations about potential future skins featuring other renowned Godzilla designs. It has also sparked humorous remarks about Fortnite evolving into the video game equivalent of the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

As avid Godzilla fans are aware, it's only a matter of time before the colossal reptile decides to break free and wreak havoc. Fortnite players will soon witness this fury firsthand. According to Dexerto, Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1's Version 33.20 update is slated for release on January 14. While an official start time has not been announced, Epic typically initiates server downtime at 4 AM PT, 7 AM ET, and 12 PM GMT to prepare for the update.

Fortnite Version 33.20 Launch Date

  • January 14, 2024

The forthcoming update is expected to revolve around the Monsterverse, with a trailer showcasing Godzilla's massive presence on the Fortnite map. Additionally, a fleeting glimpse of a King Kong decal on a passing car suggests that Kong might join Godzilla as an NPC boss during Chapter 6 Season 1.

Fortnite has previously weathered destruction from the likes of Galactus, Doctor Doom, and The Nothing. Now, players must brace themselves for another onslaught, this time from Godzilla. Once the dust settles, fans might see additional TMNT characters enter the game in the coming year, along with a much-anticipated crossover featuring Devil May Cry.
