Grand Theft Auto (GTA) enthusiasts eagerly await the next installment, and GTA 5 actor Ned Luke has shared his insights and predictions about GTA 6. Dive into what you can expect from the much-anticipated game and its development journey.
Rockstar Games To Do Something Unexpected For GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Expects GTA 6 to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, predicts that GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day of release. In an engaging interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his high expectations for the game, emphasizing that Rockstar Games always manages to surprise fans with their innovative approaches.
Luke reassured fans, saying, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He highlighted that GTA 5 amassed over $800 million within its first 24 hours back in 2013, confidently asserting that GTA 6 would surpass these figures.
According to research from DFC Intelligence, GTA 6 is projected to sell over 40 million copies and rake in $3.2 billion in its debut year, with $1 billion stemming solely from pre-orders.
The Future Of GTA 5 Characters In GTA 6
Luke also discussed the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and the upcoming GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its inception, unlike Trevor and Franklin, who have made appearances.
Teasing fans, Luke suggested that Michael might feature in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even in GTA 6 itself. Meanwhile, Steven Ogg, who portrayed Trevor, shared his ideal scenario with ScreenRant in January 2025, envisioning Trevor's dramatic demise at the beginning of GTA 6 as a symbolic "passing the torch" moment.
Luke cryptically stated, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, no official word has been released about the characters' involvement in GTA 6.
GTA 6 May Be At Its Testing Phase
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York hinted that GTA 6 might be in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, as reported by GamesRadar, York discussed the game's unique nature and current development stage.
York emphasized the unpredictability of GTA 6, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't." He believes that the game is currently undergoing rigorous internal testing, with developers likely adding final touches and extras.
York also suggested that the game is at least playable at this stage, with many testers possibly having already experienced it.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, and since then, updates have been scarce. Previous reports suggested a Fall 2025 release, based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 Financial Report, though no specific release date has been officially confirmed.
