James Gunn Wants Guardians of the Galaxy\'s Pom Klementieff In The DCU

James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, is known for collaborating with familiar faces. Now, an actress from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy confirms discussions about joining the DC Universe.

The DC Universe (DCU) aims to surpass the previous DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which faced challenges due to studio interference and inconsistent vision. While the DCEU had successes, it also experienced box office disappointments and a lack of overall cohesion. Warner Bros. hopes Gunn, renowned for his Guardians of the Galaxy work, can steer the DCU to greater success.

Pom Klementieff, who played Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy, recently confirmed conversations with Gunn regarding a DCU role at San Antonio's Superhero Comic Con. While she remained tight-lipped about specifics, she confirmed Gunn has a specific character in mind for her.

Klementieff expressed gratitude for her time working with Gunn on the Guardians of the Galaxy films, highlighting her journey from aspiring X-Men actress to a key player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 concluding with the team's disbandment, she remains open to reprising her role as Mantis, depending on the project.

Gunn himself confirmed Klementieff's comments on Threads, clarifying that this role is unrelated to his upcoming Superman film. However, neither Gunn nor Klementieff has revealed which DC character is under consideration.

Gunn's tendency to cast familiar faces, including family members, has drawn criticism from some. However, others argue that many filmmakers employ similar practices. Ultimately, whether Klementieff's casting proves successful remains to be seen.
