Excitement is building as DC's next blockbuster, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, has officially started filming. To mark this milestone, DC Studios' head, James Gunn, took to Bluesky to share the first glimpse of Milly Alcock, known for her role in *House of the Dragon*, as she steps into the iconic role of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The photo, capturing Alcock seated in her actor's chair, teases fans with what's to come.

Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms that Craig Gillespie, acclaimed director of *Cruella* and *I, Tonya*, will be guiding the film, as previously announced last April.

While details on the plot remain under wraps, it's known that the movie will draw heavily from the acclaimed graphic novel *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira. The novel follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. This gripping tale was nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards, making it a must-read for fans.

The cast is shaping up to be stellar, with Matthias Schoenaerts taking on the role of Krem and Eve Ridley portraying Ruthye. The ensemble also includes David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father, Zor-El, Emily Beecham as her mother, and Jason Momoa, who has been recast in the DC universe as Lobo.

*Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* marks the second installment in the new DC cinematic universe, following James Gunn's *Superman*, set to hit theaters this summer. Other projects in development include *The Batman Part II* (its connection to Gunn's universe yet to be clarified) and a rumored *Clayface* movie from Mike Flanagan.
