Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
LEGO Game Boy Arriving October 2025
Nintendo has unveiled its latest collaboration with LEGO: a buildable Game Boy! Launching in October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES set.
While exciting for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a flurry of speculation regarding the Nintendo Switch 2. Some users humorously interpreted the news as a console reveal, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the next-generation system.
Although details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that an announcement would be made within their fiscal year (ending March 2025). Patience is key!
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy hasn't been revealed yet, but further information is expected soon.
A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES and the upcoming Game Boy, Nintendo and LEGO have partnered to bring iconic characters from popular franchises to life in brick form. These include Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
Last May 2024 saw the release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set featuring the Great Deku Tree from both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, complete with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. This impressive set retails for $299.99 USD.
Two months later, a Super Mario World set featuring Mario riding Yoshi debuted. This unique set uses a crank mechanism to animate Yoshi's leg, mirroring the in-game sprite. It’s available for $129.99 USD.
