TheDarkOne, the Nexus Mods owner, clarified the situation on Reddit, stating that both the Biden and Trump mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of political bias. He lamented the lack of coverage from YouTube personalities regarding this simultaneous removal.

The situation escalated when TheDarkOne reported receiving numerous threats following the mods' removal. He stated that the platform was subjected to death threats, accusations of pedophilia, and other forms of abuse, all stemming from the controversy.

This isn't an isolated incident. In 2022, Nexus Mods faced similar backlash after removing a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags with American flags. At the time, the platform publicly defended its commitment to inclusivity and its policy of removing content deemed discriminatory.
