New Mercenary Troops System Added to Age of Empires Mobile

Have you ever imagined Joan of Arc commanding Roman Centurions in battle, or Hannibal Barca deploying Japanese Samurai to conquer Rome? With the latest update to Age of Empires Mobile, this fantasy becomes a reality through the introduction of the innovative Mercenary Troops system.

Once you reach level 26, you'll unlock the Mercenary Camp, a new structure that enables you to contract and recruit unique units not typically available to your faction. This system not only allows you to hire mercenaries but also offers the chance to unlock and upgrade tech to enhance these warriors' capabilities. Plus, you can get your first mercenaries for free during the new event that's currently live.

The Mercenary units you'll be able to recruit include Byzantine Cataphracts, Swiss Pikemen, Persian Immortals, Indian Battle Elephants, Roman Centurions, Egyptian Chariot Archers, Japanese Samurai, and Korean Archers. Each of these units comes with tech upgrades that boost their already impressive battlefield prowess.

The new Mercenary Troops system brings a Total War vibe to Age of Empires Mobile, reminiscent of commanding hordes of mercenaries in classics like Rome: Total War and Medieval II. However, this addition might be divisive among players, with some worried it could disrupt the game's balance.
