Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater retains the suggestive and sexual content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the notorious Peep Demo Theatre, as confirmed by an age rating from the ESRB. Although developer Konami has not officially verified the retention of this controversial content, the U.S. classification board has rated the stealth action game as Mature 17+. This rating is attributed to the game's realistic gunfire, cries of pain, bloody combat, and "suggestive/sexual content."
The ESRB's detailed report on the game highlights its realistic combat and violence, noting specific instances such as "a restrained character beaten and electrocuted; a character shot in the eye; a character on fire shot several times." Additionally, the ESRB specifies the suggestive/sexual content, which includes "a man groping a woman's breasts; close-up camera angles of deep cleavage; a character briefly groping a man's crotch; a Peep Demo Theatre allowing players to view cutscenes of a female character's body from a first-person perspective."
The Peep Demo Theatre is a notable unlockable feature from the Subsistence and HD Collection versions of the original Metal Gear Solid 3. This feature allows players, as Snake, to manipulate the camera and zoom in during a specific cutscene featuring Eva in her underwear. To unlock this, players must complete the game four times.
Konami has officially announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28. Along with the release date, a new teaser trailer also confirmed the return of the beloved Snake vs. Monkey minigame.
In our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, IGN remarked, "Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been." The preview highlights the game's new first-person perspective and describes it as "an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater received an impressive score of 9.6 from IGN.
