The Witcher's Newest Animated Spinoff: Sirens of the Deep
A Seaside Village on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the official news site, announced The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, debuting February 11, 2025. Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny, this film plunges into a coastal village where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople erupts. Instead of the usual monsters, Geralt faces a unique challenge: battling merfolk.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Andrzej Sapkowski acts as creative consultant, with Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penning the script. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs.
A Story Set Within Witcher Season 1
The film's timeline fits neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's meeting in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt is hired to resolve a monster problem near the coast.
The coastal setting suggests a location near Redania or Temeria. Considering the source material, Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, is a strong possibility. However, only time will tell how closely the film adheres to the short story.
