Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Announced for April

After a flurry of leaks, Nintendo finally unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2, though a full reveal is slated for a Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, 2025. A brief trailer confirmed the new hardware and a new Mario Kart title. Nintendo's website states, "Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 will air on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, offering a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo Switch releasing in 2025. The broadcast time will be announced on this website and on our social media accounts at a later date."

While details were scarce, the announcement showcased the console's visuals and redesigned Joy-Con controllers. As predicted by numerous leaks, the Switch 2 appears larger and boasts enhanced specifications compared to its predecessor.

Following the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo will host fan events globally. North American locations include New York (April 4-6), Los Angeles (April 11-13), Dallas (April 25-27), and Toronto (April 25-27). European events will be held in Paris (April 4-6), London (April 11-13), Milan (April 25-27), Berlin (April 25-27), Madrid (May 9-11), and Amsterdam (May 9-11). Additional events are planned for Melbourne (May 10-11), Tokyo (April 26-27), Seoul (May 31-June 1), and Hong Kong and Taipei at later dates.
