Niantic has announced exciting news for Pokémon GO players! The Lunar New Year 2025 event kicks off January 29th, bringing a flurry of opportunities to catch Lucky Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and earn valuable rewards. Similar to the recent Fashion Week event, players can complete Field Research tasks for bonus rewards.

Celebrating Pokémon GO's ninth anniversary in 2025, this Lunar New Year event is one of several leading up to the summer and Pokémon GO Fest. It precedes Pokémon GO Tour: Unova (February 21st-23rd in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, and globally in March), offering a chance to add new Pokémon to your collection before the Unova event begins.

The Pokémon GO Lunar New Year event runs from Wednesday, January 29th, 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 2nd, 8:00 p.m. local time. Niantic promises increased chances of obtaining Lucky Pokémon through trades and becoming Lucky Friends, further boosting your Lucky Pokémon odds. Wild encounters will feature Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini, with increased Shiny rates. 2km Eggs will hatch Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi.
