World of Warcraft enthusiasts in China have something exciting to look forward to with the introduction of the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar mounts. These stunning additions are part of two exclusive promotions starting January 15. While they're not yet available in other regions, these mounts are reimagined versions of the highly sought-after Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, which are rare drops from raid bosses.

Following a successful partnership renewal between NetEase and Blizzard last year, World of Warcraft made a triumphant return to China. This comeback was celebrated with various initiatives, including the creation of a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the Xiao Liu pet, complete with a teleportation feature.

Now, WoW China is gearing up for another exciting promotion, this time featuring revamped versions of some of the game's rarest mounts. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar are not just recolored but also reimagined versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and the Ashes of Al'ar, respectively. These fiery birds will be accessible through two separate promotions exclusive to China, and players can use them in both modern and Classic WoW.

New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts

  • Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
  • Golden Ashes of Al'ar

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, while appearing similar to the Pureblood Fire Hawk from the Firelands raid in WoW: Cataclysm, boasts a unique feature: auspicious clouds, or xiangyun, within its wings. These clouds symbolize peace, immortality, and good fortune, reflecting a cultural touch that has been cherished in China for over 3000 years. On the other hand, the Golden Ashes of Al'ar is a gilded rendition of the phoenix mount from The Eye raid in The Burning Crusade, complete with a sleek black saddle and flavor text that echoes Kael'thas Sunstrider's iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."

To obtain the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, players must participate in an event known as the Treasure Workshop, though specific details are yet to be disclosed. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar can be acquired through Landro’s Loot Box, which costs ¥200, approximately $27. Each box offers one of eight items, including other high-value prizes like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger, a mount from the discontinued World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Players can also form teams when purchasing these loot boxes, with the opportunity to earn additional crates by reaching certain spending milestones.

While the new Xiao Liu pet has sparked hope for international releases, there's currently no indication that the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al'ar will be available outside China. Until then, players worldwide can only admire these magnificent mounts from a distance.
