The eagerly awaited Ratatan gameplay trailer, showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, has finally given fans an exciting glimpse into the world of this rhythm roguelike game. Developed by Ratatan Works, the trailer highlights a thrilling battle against a giant boss crab, capturing the essence of the game's dynamic gameplay.

Ratatan masterfully blends rhythm game mechanics with side-scrolling action, a combination that fans of the genre will appreciate. A standout feature is the game's support for online co-op, allowing up to 4 players to join forces. Additionally, players can command up to 100 characters in epic melee battles, promising a scale and intensity that's sure to captivate.

The game is being crafted by the visionary Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, in collaboration with the original Patapon musician, Kemmei Adachi. Ratatan's journey began with a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2023, achieving its console launch stretch goal and ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Ratatan's closed beta is scheduled to kick off on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates about the game's milestones, including surpassing 100,000 wishlists on Steam and garnering positive feedback on their Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo.

While Ratatan will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the focus is on delivering an enhanced demo for the festival in June. During the closed beta, players can expect to experience up to Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively throughout the month-long test period. Details regarding the distribution of codes, start date, and time will be shared through Discord and X as soon as they are finalized.

Anticipated for release in 2025, Ratatan will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Although no specific release date has been announced yet, the excitement surrounding this game continues to build, promising a thrilling addition to the rhythm roguelike genre.
