How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
At the outset of Hollow Era, you begin as a Soul Spirit. To transition into a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you must accept the initial quest from an NPC known as Hurt Shinigami. She's in dire need of assistance, and upon accepting the role of Shinigami, you commit to this path with no option to switch to a Hollow—unless you later become a Visored. For those interested in the Hollow path, refer to our separate guide on Hollow progression.

When choosing your path, you must act quickly. To become a Hollow, simply break your chain. However, opting for the Shinigami route means the chain will slowly start to break regardless of your actions. Every two minutes, a section of the chain breaks, and if you let this process complete, you'll automatically transform into a Hollow. In such a case, consult our resurrection moves lists for your Hollow endgame.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your first task as a Shinigami is to purify six Lost Souls, aligning with the Shinigami's duty to maintain the balance between life and death. Next, you'll find an NPC near Hurt Shinigami who will give you a quest to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.

These initial quests are perfect for familiarizing yourself with your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from an Urahara shop. If you can afford it, use the bus stop for $200 as a teleport/fast travel option, as the map is extensive and requires a lot of running. Alternatively, you can spend 149 Robux on infinite fast travel in the Robux Shop.

Subsequent quests are marked with a red crosshair, guiding you to defeat one Hollow, then five Corrupted Shinigamis, and so on until you reach level 15. Quests are categorized into repeatable quests, progression quests, and those linked to specific paths like Vizard and Airwalk.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, strategic investment of your skill points is crucial. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers a variety of powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami.
Kido and Reiatsu Nodes enhance your damage output and maximum Reiatsu respectively. Here are some notable Kido abilities:
- Caja Negacion: Forms a beam of lightning from your finger. When combined with Electric, it spreads electricity from the target.
- Shakkaho: Creates a red energy ball that explodes upon impact. With Ragdoll, it can ragdoll opponents; with Fire, it sets them ablaze.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies towards you.
- Prison of Light: Immobilizes the enemy with six light rods.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving ball of lightning that causes electric damage and explodes upon contact, ideal for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To unlock Shikai in Hollow Era, reach level 15 and visit Urihiro to accept the Shikai Training quest. Defeating Urahara Kisuke will earn you 1,700 exp and the ability to use Shikai powers.

Warning: If your character isn't optimized, defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging. Consider grinding to level 25 or higher before attempting this quest.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random mighty ability. If unsatisfied with the power, you can re-roll it at the Urahara Shop for a fee.
The game features a Rage Bar, which fills with damage taken or dealt. Press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai when the bar is full, and it will deactivate upon depleting your Reiatsu or by holding Y.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level is determined by Mastery Points earned through using Shikai Skills. These points directly affect your Rage Bar efficiency—the higher the Mastery Level, the less Rage you'll spend.
Each Mastery Level comes with unique aura effects and visual enhancements:
- Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
As a Shinigami, there's initially no turning back to the Hollow path. However, becoming a Visored allows you to break the barrier between Hollow and Shinigami, utilizing a Hollow Mask to switch between the two.
To embark on the Vizard path, reach level 50 and obtain the Vizard quest at the Vizard’s Warehouse. This path, aligned with the Bleach canon, involves using the Hogyoku—an orb that can break barriers between Hollow and Shinigami.
To obtain Hogyoku, defeat the King of Hueco Mundo, though the drop rate is a mere 1%. After securing the Hogyoku, you can unlock the Vizard fighting style.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain several advantages. Mask Control reduces the chance of your Hollow taking over, while the Visored node extends mask-wear time and boosts damage output from Hollow powers.
