Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, leaving even Movie Sonic puzzled by Shrek's updated appearance.

In a humorous video posted on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initially criticized live-action design to a much-improved version revealed months later.

IGN provided the first exclusive look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie in 2018, and the response was decidedly mixed, with fans particularly taken aback by the character's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and oddly human fingers.

In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler opted to revise the controversial design of the beloved character, committing to a more authentic portrayal. The subsequent redesign was much better received.

Although the reaction to Shrek's new look hasn't been as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action debut, Sonic's playful retort has entertained fans nonetheless.

"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," remarked one commenter, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this," accompanied by a crying emoji.

PlayThe fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was first announced in 2016, but progress was slow until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023, along with plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has since rescheduled Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, and shifted the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, into its former slot.
