Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to make progress, as confirmed by Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin. Dive into the latest updates and explore the community's reactions to this much-anticipated game.
This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real
Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin
Following recent speculations sparked by a cake-themed social media post, Hollow Knight fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Team Cherry's Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reassure fans that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively being developed. This statement came after a fan's plea for any indication that the game was still in progress.
The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his profile picture to an image of a cake, leading fans to believe it might hint at a Silksong announcement or an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) related to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn, after reaching out to Griffin, clarified that Pellen's tweet was simply a "nothingburger"—a harmless change with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn apologized for any confusion, humorously noting, "The cake was a lie."
Despite the cake confusion, Griffin reaffirmed the game's status, stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This marks the first significant update from Team Cherry in over a year and a half.
Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History
Originally announced in February 2019 and initially set for a 2023 release, Silksong's development timeline was extended in May 2023. Team Cherry explained that the game had grown significantly, prompting them to delay its launch to further refine it. Silksong promises to transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and include a challenging new mode called Silk Soul. As we approach nearly two years since the delay, this latest update, though brief, breaks the silence and reassures fans.
The community's reaction has been mixed. Some fans are grateful for any news and continue to support Team Cherry, urging them not to rush under external pressure. Others, however, are growing impatient after nearly six years of waiting, feeling that the updates provided are insufficient for such a highly anticipated title.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey through an unknown world, aiming to reach the kingdom's peak. Although no specific release window has been announced, keep an eye out for further updates and announcements!
