Spider-Man 2 PC Release Hacked in One Hour

The release of Spider-Man 2 on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store came with no protective measures in place, making it impossible to crack the game before its official launch. This was largely due to the absence of pre-order and pre-download options, coupled with the game's hefty 140-gigabyte size.

Despite these measures, hackers managed to download and crack the game within an hour of its release. As anticipated, Spider-Man 2 lacked sophisticated defense systems. Sony kept a low profile in promoting the project, and the system requirements were only disclosed a day before the PC release. On Steam, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 currently ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases, trailing behind titles like God of War, Horizon, and even Days Gone.

Initial player feedback has been underwhelming, with the game garnering only a 55% positive review rating from 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs.

In comparison, Spider-Man Remastered continues to lead the series in popularity on PC, having previously achieved a peak of over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether Spider-Man 2 can come close to the first part's record remains to be seen over the upcoming Friday and weekend. However, if current sales trends hold, the game may still achieve a respectable performance.
