Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will encounter various NPCs, leading to quests ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who will instruct the player to activate a second measuring device atop a silo. While brief, completing it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

1. Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest:

The "For Science!" quest begins by finding Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching the location triggers a radio call between Mongoose and Skif, prompting Skif to meet him. Inside the Central Elevator, go left, past the conveyor belts, and up the rusted stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor; vault the railing to reach him. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a silo, initiating the quest upon accepting his request.

2. Reaching the Silo's Summit:

Exit the room and ascend to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows allows access to a ladder leading to an exterior walkway. Jump to the silo walkway, equipping a bolt-action weapon to deal with electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device. Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Players can either fight them or evade them to reach Mongoose.

3. Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse; however, choosing the peaceful option provides the pass and additional coupons. The pass allows entry to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
