Star Wars: Hunters has announced its shutdown before even reaching its first anniversary, yet it will still celebrate this milestone before the final curtain. But is it really worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are set to officially shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players have been given a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out a final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce a new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them up, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
While it's unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters isn't entirely surprising. The game faced numerous challenges from the outset, including multiple delays after its initial announcement in 2020. Beta tests were limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions, and the game lacked major console support. The lukewarm reception upon release, coupled with the choice to feature generic original characters over iconic Star Wars legends, contributed to its downfall. The game's design missed the mark, failing to capitalize on the rich Star Wars universe.
If you've uninstalled the game but want to take one last ride, it's still available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
