System Shock 2 Remaster Reborn with a New Name Release Date Reveal Coming Soon

Nightdive Studios has officially rebranded their game as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, giving a fresh coat of paint to this cult classic. This revitalized edition is launching on PC (Steam and GOG), PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The highly anticipated release date will be revealed on March 20, 2025, during the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase, preparing a new generation of gamers to experience this legendary sci-fi RPG.

Originally released in 1999, System Shock 2 was a groundbreaking title, masterfully blending survival horror with rich RPG mechanics. This remaster promises to retain the chilling atmosphere while significantly enhancing the experience with updated visuals and improved technical performance.

Nightdive Studios, renowned for their work on the System Shock franchise, including the 2013 remaster of System Shock 2 and the recent remake of the original game, initially planned to release this project alongside the System Shock remake. However, unforeseen development delays shifted their release schedule.

Their 2023 remake was exceptionally well-received, achieving a 78/100 Metacritic score, a 7.6/10 user rating, and a remarkable 91% positive rating on Steam. With the System Shock 2 remaster now on the horizon, the wait is almost over.
