"Tribe Nine Canceled Just Three Months Post-Launch"

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers will be shut off on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now cancelled and the game reaching its End of Service (EOS).

This marks an acrimonious end for Tribe Nine, a title that only a couple of months ago celebrated over ten million downloads. Based on the anime series of the same name and featuring art by Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, the game offered regular Action RPG gameplay alongside the unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series will recognize.

The sudden cancellation of Tribe Nine continues a troubling trend over the last few years, where many mobile game releases have been terminated after less than a year in service. For fans, it can feel disheartening to invest time and emotion into these games, given the looming threat of EOS.

ytTribelessConsidering that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has been well-received in games like Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on other platforms, there seems little reason why Tribe Nine should face cancellation. However, being discontinued so soon after launch could have negative repercussions for developer Akatsuki Games.

With another anime-based game, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely hoping to capitalize on the existing fanbase. Yet, casual players might be wary due to Akatsuki's recent track record. Either way, for fans of Tribe Nine, it's not exactly a happy Friday.

On a brighter note, there are still many great releases to explore. Why not check out our latest feature covering the top five new mobile games to try this week on mobile for some of our top picks?
