EA Sports UFC 5 receives a significant update on January 9th, launching at 1 PM ET for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This patch (1.18) introduces undefeated fighter Azamat Murzakanov and addresses various bugs.
EA Vancouver, the developer, continues to support UFC 5, adding content despite rumors of a sequel. The initial release in October 2023 faced criticism for a limited roster; however, consistent updates have brought the game to 98% parity with the current UFC top ten rankings.
This update marks the start of UFC 5's second year. Beyond Murzakanov (boasting impressive 97 power punch, 95 accuracy, and 94 ground striking stats), three new fighter alter egos are also included. Minor bug fixes and a gameplay adjustment—reducing the muscle modifier's stamina cost from 3.125x to 2.5x—are also part of the patch.
Furthermore, Microsoft announced that EA Sports UFC 5 will be added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play on January 14th. This is a separate addition to the standard Game Pass lineup, which will include titles like Road 96, Lightyear Frontier, and My Time at Sandrock.
