How To Unlock New Weapons In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Unlike previous *Dynasty Warriors* titles where you played as numerous characters, each with their own unique weapon sets, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* simplifies things. You control a single character, but you can unlock a variety of weapons throughout your adventure. Here's how to acquire each one.

Unlocking Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In earlier *Dynasty Warriors* games, specific weapons were tied to particular characters, each with unique movesets. *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, however, streamlines this. You play as one character who can freely switch between weapons.

You start with a sword, but additional weapons are earned by defeating specific enemy officers during missions. While you can usually obtain all nine main weapons before completing Chapter 3, the exact timing depends on which officers you defeat. To ensure you get them early, here's a guide based on my playthrough:

• Sword: Your starting weapon.
• Spear: Complete the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1 (requires purchase for story progression).
• Gauntlets: Defeat Zhou Cang during the Battle of Guangzong in Chapter 1.
• Wheels: Defeat Zhang Ju during the Suppression of You Province in Chapter 2.
• Podao: Defeat any officer wielding this weapon during the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits in Chapter 2.
• Staff: Defeat the officer within a secret passage in a treasure chamber during the Assassination of Dong Zhuo in Chapter 2.
• Twin Pike: Defeat Zhang Liao during the Battle of Hulao Gate in Chapter 2.
• Lance: Defeat an officer wielding the lance on the opposing side during the Battle of Xu Province (your allegiance to Cao Cao or Liu Bei will determine which officer to defeat).
• Crescent Blade: Unlocked in Chapter 3 after siding with a specific faction. The exact mission varies depending on your choices.

Beyond these nine weapons, a powerful halberd awaits. To unlock it, you must defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Hulao Gate after completing the main campaign. This is a challenging fight, but the reward is arguably the game's best weapon.
