16-Bit JRPG Classic Vay Gets Revamped for Android

SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG receives a significant upgrade, boasting enhanced graphics, a redesigned interface, and controller support.

Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized by Working Designs), Vay enjoyed a 2008 iOS re-release courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.

What's New in the Revamped Vay?

The updated Vay features over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty settings.

Convenience is enhanced with auto-saving, and Bluetooth controller support offers flexible gameplay options. Players can acquire new equipment and items, and characters learn new spells as they level up. An AI system allows for autonomous character combat.

The Story:

The game unfolds in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war. A colossal, malfunctioning war machine crashes onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, causing widespread destruction.

Players embark on a quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that could potentially save the entire world. The idyllic wedding day turns into a desperate struggle for survival as the bride is kidnapped, setting the stage for an epic journey to confront the destructive war machines.

Vay's narrative is instantly engaging, blending nostalgic charm with modern enhancements. It remains true to its JRPG roots, with experience and gold earned through random encounters. The game includes almost ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.
